A lot of interesting possible match-ups.
I almost laughed when I saw Tsonga's name near Richard. A little revenge would be nice. However, Seb really killed Tsonga today so I don't know. Its tough, but I really would love to see a great result for Richard's last tournament of the year. |

Is he even going to play? He said after his loss in Lyon that he would decide by Sunday if he would play in Paris. His comments about his knee hurting and being worried that his fans will "lynch him" if he is not 100%, make me wonder if he will play. He just doesn't seem to have a positive attitude and I wonder how well he would do if he did play.
Richard seems to have a difficult time unless everything is perfect. When he is tired, has pressure on him, has an ache or pain, he seems to fall apart. It sounds like he has all this going against him right now so I would not expect much from him if he does play. Unless he his written everything off and goes out there with the ultimate nothing to loose / no expectations attitude.
It would be great if he can paly some good matches in Paris to end the season on a high note and get ready for a strong 2008. |

That is exactly what I am hoping for. And I also hope that he does not succumb to a French crowd like in Roland Garros, but takes advantage of it. Make a phone call to Gael, Richard, he can teach you how to use a home crowd. Good luck, Richie!!!
BTW: The draw promises a ton of interesting match-ups, even in round 1. What a tourney! |

You never know with Richie he just might end up surprising us. Plus the points separating him and Berdych and Murray are very close:
8 Haas, Tommy (GER) 329
9 Robredo, Tommy (ESP) 328
10 Blake, James (USA) 327
11 Murray, Andy (GBR) 326
12 Berdych, Tomas (CZE) 322
13 Gasquet, Richard ( FRA) 321
Its ridiculous.
Shanghai might not be possible but Top Ten at the end of the year very possible. If Richie doesn't have alot of points to defent and makes it atleast to the Quarters then he is in. Anyone know how far he went into Paris last year?? |

Just checked he made it to round three, now provided Richie makes it to round three James Blake is waiting and he isn't playing good tennis and if Richie wins that match and goes onto the next round then only does he gain more points (75 to be exact ).
In all not a bad draw if he goes past Blake and keeps his head cool |

That's a BIG IF - Keeps his cool and does not crumble under the French crowd.
I agree with Puskin - he should learn how to USE the home crowd instead of let it intimidate him - they really are pulling for you. Only problem is his first match up he will be playing another Frenchman. The crowd may pull for the old guy or for the big guy , both of whom would be considered underdogs against RIchie. But in his current form I'd say it was a toss up. Actually can't think of anything worse for RIchie's psyche than playing in France against another Frenchmen...
Allez Richie - end the season with a bang. Show your magic! |

Well, not all is bleak, though. Richard has beaten other Frenchies in France before, actually his record against Frenchmen is not at all bad. The matches were not always of high quality, but who cares about that in the early rounds?
I just don't know how serious his knee injury is. That might be more of a problem than his opponent. |

Yep. The match will start in about 2 hours, given Rafa is on court now and it takes him a while to finish his matches..
Another thing is that Djokovic is out, losing badly to Fabrice Santoro. Richard's quarter just got little easier. |
