Richard defeated two Spaniards to reach the final in Estoril where he will face Juan Martin del Potro.
Already the quarter final against the in form qualifier Munoz de la Nava was not easy. The first set went to a breaker and only there Richard was able to impose himself 7-1. With the set in the pocket, things went more smoothly and Richard won the second set 6-2.In the semi against Ramos Richard suffered from a very slow start, 2-6 1-3. But he rebroke for 3 all and like the day before he raced through the tie-break 7-1. Though Richard had the upper hand in the third set, the match was still tight. Both players suffered from fatigue and in the end it was Richard who proved mentally stronger for a 2-6 7-6 7-5 victory.
