Richard lost the Toronto final 3-6 2-6 to Nr 1 seed Novak Djokovic. His next tournament is Cincinnati where he will play Milos Raonic in the first round.
Three UEs from Djokovic gave Richard three breakpoints right at the start of the match. He seemed to surprised to convert. The match went on serve until 3 all, a weak service game from Richard allowed the Serb to break and serve out the first set. Then Djokovic took full control and scored a convincing 6-3 6-2 victory. In spite of this defeat, Toronto was a huge week for Richard which allowed him to improve his ranking up to 13.
