Richard has received a wild card into next week's event, the PBZ Zagreb Indoors. The tournament beginning on 30th January, features some of the world's top players.
Deputy director and Organising Committee President, Goran Ivanisevic announced the news yesterday.
"As for the wild cards, I think that it's great that one of them will go to Marin Čilić and another to the French Richard Gasquet, who is currently in 16th place on the ATP list. The issue of the third wild card is still open. For the moment, the closest to receiving it is Andy Murray" stated tennis legend, Ivanisevic.
Richard will be joined in Zagreb by his friend and countryman, Gael Monfils. This year's event has attracted a good crop of players, including local favourites, Ljubicic, Ancic and Karlovic. Also participating is British no.1 Tim Henman and the story of the Australian Open, Marcos Baghdatis.
Richard asked for a wild card, with the hope of gaining more match practice as he continues his comeback from an elbow injury.
