Playing in his first tournament since leading France to the quarterfinals in Davis Cup, Richard is seeded 16 in TMS Indian Wells, and has been awarded a bye in the first round.
Richard will await the winner between Del Potro and Kuerten.
Richard is in a tough section of the draw, and is seeded to meet Andy Roddick in the fourth round.
Action from Indian Wells starts on 7th March.
