Richard defeated his compatriote Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to reach the semi-finals of Brisbane where he will meet Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic.
After a first set which was all Jo, Richard started to find his gear in the second set. With growing confidence he won his service games more and more easily and was able to show all his variation. With the pressure mounting, particularly on the return, Jo conceded the set on a double fault.The third set was as one-sided as the first one has been. But now it was Richard who dominated and Jo collapsed in the end.
