Richard reached the quarterfinals in Toronto after beating Tomas Berdych 6-4 6-2. His next opponent is Mardy Fish.
Richard seems to have digested his bronze medal from London well. After a first round bye, he defeated Mikhael Kukushin 6-3 7-5. The follwing day saw no matches due to rain. Against the Czech Number 7, Richard started well and was quickly 4-0 up. He had to concede one of the breaks, but won the set 6-4. In the second set, Richard allowed no more breakpoints and defeatd his error-prone opponent decisively.
He was supposed to take the court again in the afternoon, but the organisers rescheduled his match into the evening session. Hopefully, the rain will not return.
