The draw for the first Grand Slam of the year, in Melbourne, Australia has been made. It has not been so kind to the young French star, Richard Gasquet, as he faces Germany's Tommy Haas in the first round.

Despite being unseeded, Haas has had a good warm up for the Australian Open, including defeating Federer at the AAMI Classic this week at Kooyong. Gasquet and Haas have never played before at an ATP or Grand Slam event.

Looking past the first round, Richard is in a tough section of the draw, and if he were to progress, could face Roger Federer in the fourth round.

Richard will be hoping to do well in Australia, to try and regain the form he had last year, which propelled him up the rankings, and also he has the opportunity to pick up some ranking points as he did not play in Melbourne last year.
