Gasquet is a young, talented Frenchman currently on the fringes of the Top 50. He has successfully transitioned from a stellar junior career to an impressive run on Tour, netting three titles and reaching a career-high ranking of No. 12 in September of last year. At the Rogers Cup presented by American Express, Gasquet served up one of the biggest upsets of the tournament when he knocked off No. 5 James Blake (USA) in the second round.
What has been the biggest highlight of your tennis career thus far?
“When I beat [Roger] Federer in Monte Carlo [in 2005], because he is the best in the world.”
What are your favourite hobbies outside of tennis?
“I just like to spend my time with my friends, because I travel around a lot so I don’t get to see them very much.”
Who is your role model?
“Zinedine Zidane.”
What is one thing not many people know about you?
“I don’t know.”
Do you have any plans for after your career is over?
“I’m only 20 years old, so I still have a long way to go before I have to think about that.”
