Richard defeated Gilles Simon 6-3 6-3 6-7 6-3 in abaout 2 and a half hours...

After a very easy start in the first set, when Gilles committed lots of errors, Richard was in control without having to do much. Similar pattern in the second set. In the third set, Gilles managed to stay with Richard, but both were not playing their best .
And while everyone expected Richard to get a gear up in the breaker, it was Gilles who won it and broke immediately in the fourth set. The match was still hanging in the air, but after Richard got the rebreak, things changed. From 3-3, 4th set Richard played his best tennis of the day to secure a 4th round meeting with either Andy Murray or Thommy Haas.
