Richard won his quarterfinal match against Albert Montanes 6-3 7-6.
He improved considerably compared to his last match. A convincing performance on serve (78 % first serves in, 72 % points won on it, 100 % points won on second serve) and two breaks allowed him to take the first set 6-3. He lost his easyness on serve in the second set and got broken in the third game. However, when Montanes was serving for the set, Richard managed to rebreak with a love game. The tie-break was tight, but Richard closed it out on match point with his own serve. His next oppponent will be the winner of Michael Berrer - Agustin Calleri.
