Richard reached the semifinals in singles and doubles with Edouard Roger-Vasselin in Metz.

After a first round by Richard beat his compatriote Paul-Henri Mathieu 4-6 7-6 7-6 in a hard-fought battle firing 17 aces along the way. Tommy Robredo was despatched in two tie-breaks.

Richard will play the German Zverev for a place in the final.
