Monte Carlo is the tournament which I visit regularly. I cheered for Richard in all his matches, watched him during practice, met up with other fans from this site and had a nice conversation with his mother.
Richard had a tough match in his first round against Istomin, things were easier in the second round against Garcia-Lopez. He had his moments against Nadal, but could not consistently challenge the Spaniard and lost 2-6 4-6. Richard played also doubles with Ivan Ljubicic. They won the first round against Raonic/Almagro, but were beaten by Nestor/Mirnyi.
While Richard moved on to Barcelona to beat Juan Ignacio Chela 2-6 7-6 6-4, I was home and left with scoreboard watching.
Richard played another three-setter in which he defeated the Slovene Kavcic 6-3 4-6 6-2, but lost his third round match against Gael Monfils 4-6 6-7.
His next tournament is Madrid.
