Richard interrupted his prep season to take part at the Caen Open. He entered the tournament at semifinals stage and defeated Mikael Llodra 6-7 6-2 6-2. He lost the final to Gilles Simon 5-7 4-6.

His next tournament is the Hopman Cup for which he teamed up with Marion Bartoli. The French team has the honour of playing the opening tie against China on 31 December.
