Richard started the match with an ace, but lost his first service game. He managed to get back to 2 all and the set went on serve to a breaker. The German took it, reflecting his dominance throughout the set. In the second set, Richard started to be more aggressive and this was already too much for Haas, who conceded the set on two breaks.
