Richard went to London as first replacement for the World Tour Finals, but there was no withdrawal, so he did not play.

At that moment Richard's Top Ten year end ranking was still in danger, as Nicoals Almagro could have overtaken him with a win in a live rubber in the Davis Cup finals.

But the Spaniard lost both his matches and the Czech Republic won the Davis Cup 2012. Thus, Richard anded 2012 as Nr 10 in the ATP ranking, his second best result after 2007. Congratulations!
