After his loss ten days ago in Indian Wells, Richard took revenge on Tomas Berdych. He defeated the Czech 6-3 6-3 and will play Murray in the Miami semifinal.

Berdych started well and hit winners left and right in the first couple of games and had breakpoints in the fifth game, but Richard fended them off and the match turned around. Berdych started to make errors and Richard found good angles and also a good balance between defense and attack to break Berdych twice in the first set. He continued in this vein for an early break in the second set and hold till the end without any breakpoints to face.
