Richard lost to Jerzy Janowicz 6-3 6-7 2-6.
Richard kept his error count low in the first set and took the first breakpoints when the giant Pole's first serve was a bit off. He broke in the 8th game and never looked back.
In the second set, Richard put volley on the line in the third game on breakpoint. Janowicz called the umpire and pointed at a wrong mark and the umpire was fooled by this. Janowicz broke in the next game, but Richard took matters in his hands straight away and levelled for 3 all. In the tiebreak, Richard's serve was not quite as performing and he lost the set 6-7.An early break in the final set was enough to seal victory for the Pole which leaves a very bitter taste, though.
Richard's next tournament is Roland Garros.
