Richard will confront Stanislas Wawrinka today for a place in the quarterfinals. He reached the fourth round without losing a set.

After a clear 6-3 6-3 6-0 victory against the Polish qualifier Przysienzy, Nikolaj Davydenko proved a more difficult opponent. But Richard broke him twice towards the end of the set for a convincing 6-4 6-4 lead which he celebrated with great emotion. Never losing focus, he won the final set 6-3.
