After having lost to Rafael Nadal in the quarters of Bercy, Richard went straight to London, where he will play Juan Martin del Potro on 4 November 2013.
Richard started well against Nadal: Two aces in his first service game. He was broken in the third game, but mananged an immediate rebreak. But a poor service game cost him the first set which he lost 4-6.In the second set, his serve declined further and the rest of the game followed suit, while the Spaniard played better and better. Richard lost 4-6 1-6.
For the year end championships Richard was drawn in a group with Djokovic, Federer and del Potro.
