After his huge contribution to the French DC-win against the Czech Republic, Richard scheduled three tournaments in China. The first is Shenzhen where he defeated Gilles Muller 6-3 6-2.
Richard started with an ace, and this set the tone for a first set in which he was never in danger. He broke in the fifth game and there was no return for Muller. Richard took the set 6-3.In the second set Richard broke the Luxemburger twice, but had a long tough game at 4*-1 in which he saved four breakpoints. Having overcome this critical situation, the outcome was no more in doubt and Richard took the match 6-3 6-2. His next opponent is Juan Monaco.
