Richard defeated Robin Haase 4-6 6-3 7-6 6-4 and will play Bernard Tomic in the next round.
Again on court 5, which he apparently does not like, Richard had a slow start into this match. Broken in his opening game, he could achieve a rebreak, but had to concede the first set after a new break from the Dutchman.Richard raised his level: one break was enough to take the second set and after a new break in the third set he looked on the path for a quick victory. Disturbed by some spectators (the umpire had to intervene), he lost focus and had to accept Haase's rebreak. But Richard played a convincing tiebreak for the gain of the third set.
In the third set, the level of both players dropped, Richard still more solid broke again, but lost his advantage when serving for the match. Haase returned the "favour" and Richard sealed his 4-6 6-3 7-6 6-4 with a brilliant forehand winner.
