Richard celebrated his 500th win on the tour by defeating Mischa Zverev. In the quaterfinals he lost to Alexander Zverev 6-4 2-6 5-7 after having delivered a great battle. His next tournamnt is Budapest.

Richard showed growing form in Monte Carlo. He dispatched Jérémy Chardy, Diego Schwartzman and Mischa Zverev in straigh sets to reach the quarter finals.
