Richard Gasquet is considering taking time out from tennis after losing to Gael Monfils in the quarter-finals of the Open de Moselle in Metz.

Gasquet, the world number 12, lost to his fellow Frenchman 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 but is more concerned by a wrist injury.

"My defeat is not that important, it is the state of my wrist which is important," said Gasquet, who may sit out of the Stockholm event next week.

Monfils now faces Dominik Hrbaty while Nikolay Davydenko plays Ivan Ljubcic.

Gasquet, one of only three men to have beaten world number one Roger Federer this year, first felt the pain in his right wrist during the US Open.

"The pain hasn't disappeared. I will try and not play too much in the weeks to come," he added.

Monfils, seeded six, goes through to play fourth seed Hrbaty in the semi-finals after the Slovak beat Mark Philippoussis 7-6 (8-6) 6-4.

Russian first seed Davydenko beat Italy's Andreas Seppi in straight sets, 6-3 6-1, while Ljubicic of Croatia saw off Sweden's Robin Soderling 6-7 (8-6) 6-3 6-4.
