This match was a day delayed due to the weather, and unfortunately Richard suffered a slow start in his match against Melzer.

Despite a much more competitive second set, and an agonising last game, Richard eventually succombed to defeat 6-4, 6-3.

Richard's serving was suspect today, with a low first serve percentage. Melzer took the opportunity to capitalise on Richard's second serves.

Richard and Melzer will overcome this though, as they team up later for doubles. They will face Gonzalez/Mathieu, on a court to be determined, not before 4.00pm.
