Richard was not overcome by awe on Saturday when he defeated his childhood hero, Fabrice Santoro 6-0, 6-3 in the Kingfisher Airlines Open in Mumbai.

In the final, Richard will face Olivier Rochus.

From the ATP site:

"Gasquet dominated his boyhood idol from the outset, winning the first set in 23 minutes by converting three of four break points and winning 25 of 34 points played. The 21-year-old Frenchman is 2-0 lifetime against the 34-year-old Santoro who is the oldest player in the current Top 50 South African Airway ATP Rankings."

"Gasquet, who is appearing in his second ATP final of the season after a runner-up in Estoril (l. to Djokovic) in May, is 4-4 in his career in ATP finals. He is trying to capture his first career hard court title.

Gasquet also will look to become the fourth different French title winner on the ATP circuit this year, joining Paul-Henri Mathieu (2), Gilles Simon (2) and Santoro.

Gasquet, who has not dropped a set en route to the final, yielding only 13 games in four matches, will face No. 8 seed Olivier Rochus (pictured) in Sunday's championship. The Belgian won the previous meeting in the second round of Marseille four years ago."

Allez Richard!
