Nice match from Richie - and yes if he kept the pressure on Nadal he probably would have won but what else is new - he still has to learn how to sustain a high level of play for more than one set if he is going to beat the big boys.

On the positve side he stayed positive and fought the whole match (even after getting broken). When his serve was on it was great. Also his serve and volley was wonderful - a nice variety and I've never seen him come in so much as he did in the first set. And that backhand off of Nadal's overhead - vintage Richie. Did you see Nadal's face when the ball wizzed past him? Razz

Good luck, Richie, in the next 2 matches. If he can play a whole match like the first set against Nadal, Djoke is in big trouble. Ferrer looks very tough right now so I'm not expecting much from that match but if Super Gasquet shows up for a whole match anything is possible (just ask Gonzo).

Richard played very well with Nadal. I feeled that more people cheered for him than Nadal. I will go to cheer again today for Richi and Ferrer.

I was very dispointed with Roger's lose yesterday. He played a great first set, but a poor tiebreak and 3rd set. I wish he could win the next two matches.

Many people took photos with Richi's Warrior! Chinese Richi's fans call him "little lovely boy", he is very lovely.

The match between Richard and Djokovic is about to begin - I am watching it on my computer - I hope the Richard playing Roddick shows up today - if so, he will win. He also played really well against Nadal. Even if he loses, he is gaining so much experience now. good luck Richard!!!!!!!

Ya Baby - you see, you can do it. What a wonderful match and what beautiful play by Richard. When Richard lost his serve in the second set after being up a break - what came to my mind was his previous match with Nadal - I thought - OH GOD, please not a repeat of that. Well, it was not - obviously Richard learned from it and came out the winner this time. He is learning beautifully how to play, and beat the boys at the top.

good luck Richard against Ferrer - play like you did the past two matches and you will take him down also.

He really looked like he belonged in the final 8. His backhand was fabulous and he ended a lot of points at the net. The second set he won easily even though he didn't get as many first serves in.

The only time I was nervous was in the first set when Djokovic broke back and then at the beginning of the second set when I thought of that 6-0 2nd set loss a few weeks ago.

He can beat Ferrer!

I'm now watching the nadal/ferrer match and they are a set a piece. Richard can beat Ferrer if he is agressive from the beginning. That Ferrer is like nadal - all over the place. I really want to see Richard in the semis.

I was able to watch the whole match, and he played rather well. He was spectacular at a few times, and was at least he was able to play at a level higher than Djokovic (which isn't saying that much). His second serve really needs to be worked on. Haha sorry for being very critical, but he has to be more consistent but at the same time aggressive against Ferrer because Ferrer's playing some awesome tennis and won't give away any cheap points.

But all in all, he really wanted to win that badly and was really trying to concentrate on his game. I also noticed that at times he was annoyed with the ball kids. Laughing

Congrats Richard for your first TMC victory. I hope you'll continue to add one more victory. Very Happy

I just came back from the MTC. Richard played too good for Nole! He gave many beuatiful shots and people cheers a lot for him. I spent all my energy to cheer for him and was very tired when Nadal-Ferrer started. After a while, we started to cheer for Ferrer, what a great match. So today I had a great day. But I will go back to Beijing tomorrow.
