Richard scored a convincing 6-4 6-3 6-1 victory over Bernard Tomic and will play the winner of Berdych/Garcia-Lopez for a place in the quarterfinals.
Richard played a confident match from start to finish, while Tomic looked a bit flat after his long battle in the previous match against Lleyton Hewitt. One break sufficed to win the first set. In the follwing sets Richard managed two breaks and did not face a single breakpoint himself. He closed out the match on his first matchpoint with an ace. 43 winners and only 15 errors demonstrate his domination.
